Norton Ghost is a lightweight utility meant for cloning and backing up copies of disk partitions.
The software supports creating disk images on CDs, DVDs, zip and USB storage devices. Using the application, users are able to restore a system from an on-disk software recovery service.
Like other recovery softwares, Norton Ghost supports backing up an entire file system, in addition to individual files and other backup folders. Depending on the version installed, users are able to make snapshot backups that can be stored on an external FTP site.
The service can even monitor malware activity on the computer and perform incremental backups based on specific threat levels. Users may also back up network-specific storage devices up to 16 terabytes in size.
The Norton Ghost creators are constantly adding new features, allowing for users to convert recovery points to virtualized environments at scheduled back-up times. Users may also back up Microsoft Hyper-V and Blu-Ray disk partitions.
